CHLAMYDIA SCREENING
The surgery offers a free and discreet Chlamydia Screening service and suggest all sexually active 15-24 year olds take advantage of this service to avoid potential medical problems in later life.
The service is of course open to all patients, irrespective of age.
ANTE NATAL CLINIC
Ante-natal checks can booked at any time as long as there is a doctor and nurse available.
Patients are reminded to bring a fresh urine sample with them.
BABY CHECKS
Eight week baby checks are done by either Dr Waldman, Dr Howes or Dr Rawlinson, during normal surgery hours.
POSTNATAL CHECKS
Postnatal checks are done at eight weeks. Mother and baby are checked by the doctor. To save two visits, your baby will be immunised at the same time by one of our practice nurses.
Please state when making your appointment that the visit is for the eight week check.
ASTHMA CHECKS
These are done by our practice nurses.
DIABETIC CHECKS
These are done by the practice nurse in conjunction with one of the doctors.
FAMILY PLANNING
Contraceptive care is provided by the doctors. The practice nurses are able to provide repeat prescriptions for the pill, give contraceptive injections or fit an IUD.

MINOR SURGERY
The practice provides some minor surgery. Please talk to one of our practice nurses to discuss your requirements.
WART CLINIC
Unfortunately, the practice is no longer able to provide a Wart Clinic.
NON-NHS EXAMINATIONS
The doctors are happy to carry out medical examinations e.g. for insurance purposes or driving licence. Please ask at reception for details of the charges made for these services.
TRAVEL IMMUNISATIONS and VACCINATIONS
Please make an appointment at least eight weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception.

FLU VACCINATION
An influenza vaccination is recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes or who are resident in a nursing or rest home.
The practice runs Flu clinics in the autumn. Check our Clinics page, the practice notice boards or our scrolling display for dates.
Flu vaccinations are also available by appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to see you.
YELLOW FEVER VACCINATIONS
Merton Medical Practice is now an authorised yellow fever vaccination centre. A fee is payable for this vaccine.
DISABLED ACCESS
A disabled patients’ WC is provided. If access proves difficult for any of our disabled patients, we will be happy to consider any suggestions for improvement.
